One day Jesus said to his disciples, “There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting! It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones to fall into sin. So watch yourselves!
“If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive. Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.”
Luke 17:1-4 NLT
To avoid offenses, we must pray for increase of faith, humility and humbleness.
It is no abatement of their guilt by whom an offence comes, nor will it lessen their punishment that offences will come. Faith in God’s pardoning mercy, will enable us to get over the greatest difficulties in the way of forgiving our brethren. As with God nothing is impossible, so all things are possible to him that can believe. Our Lord showed his disciples their need of deep humility. The Lord has such a property in every creature, as no man can have in another; he cannot be in
debt to them for their services, nor do they deserve any return from him.
Whatever the circumstances are, we must forgive others.
Our Lord Yahweh has forgiven all our sins by the blood of Jesus Christ so who are we not to have the will to forgive our brothers and sisters or spouse? As Christ died on the cross for our sins, so they could be washed away from our lives, we must also forgive whatever sins other have committed against us. If we love the Lord our God then we are to forgive others. If we have problems forgiving then it means that your heart is not right with our God.
